Every Scout deserves a trained leader!

The Boy Scouts of America is an amazing boy-led program that allows Scouts to learn skills, lead the peers, achieve their goals and allow them to grow into adults.  There are many ways to volunteer that you can devote as much time as you have available.  Even a few hours of your time will change a young man’s life!

If you are interested in volunteering with Troop 205, please come to a scout meeting and talk to any adult leader to get you started.  Below are the specific resources you need to be able to volunteer as part of Troop 205.

All Volunteers

  • Youth Protection Training (YPT) – Every adult volunteer or leader that comes into direct contact or interacts with a Scout, that is not their own child, at a Scouting event must have successfully completed YPT, the training must be done online every year.  Log on to your account on my.scouting.org and complete the training; it will automatically show up on our records.

Merit Badge Counselor

  • YPT
  • Merit Badge Counselor Application – Must be completed and provided to Scoutmaster.
  • Online Training (my.scouting.org) – List of classes needed (also available in the classroom as D76 Merit Badge Counselor Training)
  • Check out the Guide for Merit Badge Counselors
  • There are times when a Merit Badge is offered at an event outside of Scouts or through an individual who isn’t marked as a Merit Badge Counselor, please coordinate with Scout Master before taking any of these classes.  Even though this is encouraged, we want to make sure the Scouts are safe, will learn the skills necessary, and will be able to meet the requirements.
